HANGZHOU VISIT DAY 1

Only the very fortunate get to ride a dragon, we all partook of riding a dragon to Hangzhou.  Well the local airline is Dragon Air, much like the Southwest of China.

Hangzhou is a river city just upstream from Shanghai and there is construction everywhere.  Lots of cranes around the city and lots of smog obscuring the view.  We are on the 13th floor and have a great view of all the neighbors laundry hung out for the day.

Last night we went to the Marco Polo Hotel for dinner.  Chicken is not being served on any menus due to the current issues with avian flu.  So I had Salmon Sushimi and it was delish.  Norene had a noodle delicacy with prawns.

Today we met our new granddaughter Mei Mei, she is just a delight and has quite an appetite.  Colleen has a contest among her friends to guess her new name, so we can't reveal it at this time.

Today Norene and I stayed with the girls while Mom and Dad went to the orphanage to meet Mei Mei.  We had a delightful day and enjoyed a walk around the city.  Was not as hot today as yesterday.  When we returned to the hotel Mom & Dad and Mei Mei were waiting for us.  Was quite a moment and all enjoyed meeting Mei Mei for the first time.

Tomorrow we all will go to the orphanage and to the Gov't headquarters for the formal adoption papers.  During all of this Essie is being a real trooper and holding up just fine.  So good to see her trust has grown. Will have much more to report on tomorrow night.
